I have a 89 chevy s-10 and I'd like to install a 350 V8 and a 700R4 tranny! Is there any books to tell me how?

I heard GM sells a kit for the swap, where can you buy these?

Do i need to change motor mount positions?

Will the 700R4 fit under the cab floor without floor modifications?

It currently has a 2.8 V-6 with a 5 spd manual!I have a 89 chevy s-10 and I%26039;d like to install a 350 V8 and a 700R4 tranny! Is there any books to tell me how?
I have built many of these S10 and Blazer Sanoma S15.



I have put everything from a 305 to a 454 in them.



There is a engine swap kit:

Basically you will need:

engine

trans

radiator

driveshaft

headers - for V8 swap

fuel pressure regulator

V8 mini starter

engine mounts - for V8 swap

And finally the actual engine mounts

Along with the transmission mount (crossmember)

If it is a 4x4 you will also need a new oil pan for the swap

if you,ll ask at any parts store they have a kit now that comes with mounts,and engine stands,and everything you need to do it with,and its cheaper to buy the kit than to try and come up with the parts on your own,or from a salvage yard,the kit makes it a lot easier to do,there's still things that have to be changed around,but you,ll get it in there,i have done a lot of those,that's one of the easiest swaps to do ,advance or auto zone either one can order you the kit for it,good luck.I have a 89 chevy s-10 and I%26039;d like to install a 350 V8 and a 700R4 tranny! You want to get a book called Chilton's for your truck first and the Swap kit is sold at a parts store. Both are sold at a parts store like Car Quest, Napa auto parts, or Checker. I have Chilton books for every vehicle I have cause I am the one who works on my cars. Your motor mounts I have no clue on I forgot what they look like on the S-10 but it should fit I know that the 700R4 will be easy if you have a big jack to put it in place. I have no experience with that specific model, but I have changed motor mounts on several Mercedes over the years, not to mention a few other cars. These are general procedures that are involved.



Support the engine firmly (either with an engine hoist and a chain, or on one or two hydraulic or scissor type jacks with broad heads or cups at the top (not just a narrow piston jack). Do not place the jack under or wrap the chain from the hoist around the oil pan as it is not designed to bear the weight of the engine.



Now loosen the bolts on all of the motor mounts some to provide you with some %26quot;play.%26quot; You may also have to loosen some tranmission mounts for this purpose. Then you can slowly jack up the engine a bit to take the load off of the motor mounts. While you are doing this either stop periodically or have a friend watch as you jack the engine, but in some way make certain that you are not straining electrical connections, bending exhaust header pipes, and so on, while you are lifting the engine off of the mounts. Sometimes it is necessary to disconnect the exhaust at the collector pipe to get enough rise without crushing the exhaust up against the floor pan or the frame.



Once you have enough clearance you can remove the motor mounts and replace them, and then lower the engine back into place. Then tighten all of the bolts up and reconnect anything you had to disconnect to allow the engine to move.How to change a motor mount of slk 230?

Well first you will need to rewire the whole car to accept the engine wiring harness and ECU, then you will need motor mounts, axles, shift linkages, hydraulic clutch components, and by the way most of this stuff will have to be fabricated because there are no swap mount kits for this car so go ahead and spend the $20,000-$40,000 to get it running correctly and safely. And NO the trannys are NOT swappable.

Did you have someone check it for you? Before you spend the moolah on motor mounts I'd have your tires checked. Most cars that shake at highway speeds just need a tire balance. And you're car is kind of new for needing motor mounts replaced.

I wish it were that simple but no..its not. You will have to pull the engine completely. You will need an engine hoist, masking tape, wrenches, sockets and a ratchet, and fluids..also wouldnt hurt having help from a mechanically inclined friend. Otherwise find a mechanic that is willing to help you out for cheap.CHANGING ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS???

You need a jack, preferably a trolley jack, a hard surface to work on, a nice soft piece of wood and the appropriate spanners/sockets. First put the handbrake on and chock the wheels of course. Slacken the top and bottom mounting bolts a bit. If the mounting is compressed from both sides and the engine doesn't hang from it then you can completely remove the nuts, but if it's bolts then only half undo them. Next, jack the engine up with the piece of wood on top of the jack as near to the mounting as possible, on a strong part of the engine or mounting arm if it has one, ensuring that the wood and the jack are stable together. Make sure that you allow enough space to operate your spanners around the jack. If possible position a second jack/axle stand and piece of soft wood to catch the engine in case your main jack collapses. You should be able to jack up the engine and undo the bolts, raising your safety support to keep up with it. Doing this you should be able to lift it enough to remove the broken mounting block and insert the new one. Reassembly is obviously the reverse of this operation - you must let the jacks down so that the engine can sit on it's mounting, otherwise you'll be lifting the car by it's engine when you tighten the bolts up. Before you start, ensure that no pipes or other parts will be damaged or trapped by lifting the engine, there's enough space on most models though.



If you're really unlucky though it'll be one of those stupid designs like Renault love where the cambelt goes through the engine mounting, most cars are fairly easy though - particularly rear wheel drive models and cheap old Ford Fiestas.CHANGING ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS???
