Need some help with my 1990 pontiac firebird its a 3.1l v6?

i know the rear main seal is leaking and also the oil pan is leaking but does anyone know how i can change them both without removing the engine completely?i mean could i unbolt the transmission and loosen the motor mount bolts just enough to separate the two and get the oil pan off?

just loosen the motor mounts, raise the engine part way, take off the oil pan. now, do you know how to change the rear main seal?if you don,t then i,ll tell you how. take the last main bearing out, take a thin screwdriver and where the seal is above the crank, tap on the seal to get it started and take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the upper half out( watch you don,t scar the crank). now take the other part of the seal out of the bearing cap, when you get a new seal ask for the rubber one, it,s better then the rope kind. take the new seal and oil it up (so you wont get a dry start up), start the seal above the crank with the lip facing the engine. now take the other half of the seal, oil it up and put it in the bearing cap with the lip facing the engine, dry the ends of the cap and engine block off and put some high temperature sealer(the blue is the best) on the ends of the bearing cap where the ends of the seal is at, put the cap on with both lips facing together and torque the bolts, put the oil pan back up on with a new gasket, let the engine back down and tighten the motor mounts. fill it up with oil and your on the road again.Need some help with my 1990 pontiac firebird its a 3.1l v6?
You do not have to separate the transmission from the engine to replace the rear main seal. Simply remove the tin cover from the bottom of the torque converter and drop the oil pan. Two bolts are on the bottom of the rear main bearing which need to be removed. The two piece seal spins out from the top of the exposed crankshaft.

It may be necessary to drop the exhaust pipes from the exhaust manifolds for clearance purposes.
