1991 buick park avenue how to change motor mount?

IS this something my husband can do?1991 buick park avenue how to change motor mount?
yes, it is something your husband can do. I personaly own a 91 PA, and its not the easyest thing in the world, but it is easyer than pulling the eingine :P

First, you need to know which engine moutn it is, if its one of the side ones, its going to be harder, if its the back one its going to be easyer.

The best way to change the mount is using this web site

http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?a

Use this number for the web site 30812548

This guid is porvided by the wonderful people at the Fort Smith Public Libaray, in Fort Smith AR. That is my personal card number, so you wont get into trouble for using it.

Ok, now you are going to want to click ont the link that says %26quot;Auto Repair Reference Center%26quot;

Hope this helped

It's much easier with the car lifted over your head and all the correct tools. There's nothing more fun than stripping a bolt or crossthreading something important and having your car towed to an actual mechanic for a far more expensive repair. Everybody's a mechanic...

You have not said which motor mount however as some are far easier than others.

I recommend a trustworthy mechanic on this one if it's hard to access the motor mount.

Maybe your husband is a actually a mechanic, you did not say. In that case, I'd say yes, he can do it for sure.1991 buick park avenue how to change motor mount?
Yes it probably is. you need a floor jack, ramps or jack stands a block of wood, to avoid killing the oil pan, and some basic hand tools. You need to unbolt the motor mount after you've put the car on jack stands. (do not work under a car supported only by a jack, this is extremely stupid). you will need to place the wood on the head of the jack and carefully take pressure of the motor mount, (carefully means just that, you can damage the oil pan if you jack up too much, and you may have to remove other mounts to get more room.

Another safety tip, keep a block of wood between the engine and frame in case the jack fails. This tends to hurt otherwise. If your husband isn't mechanically inclined, better leave this to the pros. This can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Get a Haynes manual for you car if you intend to fix it yourself. It's $20 well-spent.1991 buick park avenue how to change motor mount?
