i have a 1997 1.6 liter 5 speed civic for parts that i would like to put the motor into my good 1988 1.5 liter 4 speed, i can deal with changing motor mounts, but would like to know if it is going to take more work, if atg all possible want to keep the 4 speed, but will swapWill the motor from a 1.6 1997 civic fit a 1.5 1988? dont care what it takes to make it fit, tell me how?
yes. they're both d series. engines. mounts are the same. just need different ecu wire harness and ecu. Will the motor from a 1.6 1997 civic fit a 1.5 1988? dont care what it takes to make it fit, tell me how?
Why keep the crappy 4 speed?? Put in the 5 speed. Will the motor from a 1.6 1997 civic fit a 1.5 1988? dont care what it takes to make it fit, tell me how?
Well first you will need to rewire the whole car to accept the engine wiring harness and ECU, then you will need motor mounts, axles, shift linkages, hydraulic clutch components, and by the way most of this stuff will have to be fabricated because there are no swap mount kits for this car so go ahead and spend the $20,000-$40,000 to get it running correctly and safely. And NO the trannys are NOT swappable.
